  • Are your courses suitable for a complete beginner?

    Yes absolutely our courses require no previous musical training and are broken down step by step to make them fun and easy to follow

  • I've been playing the handpan for a few years now, will I learn something new from this course?

    Yes as well as the course being for complete beginners it also caters for more advanced players too

  • What do I get when I subscribe to the Handpan Tutorials Academy?

  • How do I know if my scale is the right scale for the course?

    Currently all of our courses are recorded on a D Kurd and C# Kurd/Annaziska Scale. If you have either of these scales you will get the most out of the courses however the concepts learned in the course are suitable for all handpan scales as most of the conent can be adapted for your handpan scale. If you are not sure what scale your Handpan is in drop us a message with you playing each note once and we will be happy to tell you!

  • Do I need to know how to read music?

    No prior music training is required here at Handpan Tutorials. We have developed our own very easy to read Handpan notation system.

About Your Tutor

Mark Perry

I began my musical journey at a young age, learning trumpet and piano from the ages of eight and ten. This early passion led me to study jazz at Trinity College of Music in London, where I earned a BMus (Hons) degree from one of the UK’s most prestigious conservatoires.

For over 15 years, I’ve worked as a professional musician—teaching and performing with well-known artists around the world. In 2019, I discovered the handpan and instantly fell in love with its unique sound and expressive potential. Since then, I’ve performed extensively on the instrument at inspiring venues including The Royal Academy of Arts, Soho House, and The National Gallery.

I began teaching handpan in 2021, and through hundreds of private lessons, I’ve carefully refined the approach and material you’ll find in these courses.
